There were no injuries reported from a fire in Green Valley on Wednesday that destroyed a detached garage and resulted in a propane tank explosion.
According to Green Valley Fire Chief Scott Terrill, the Green Valley Fire Department was called to the scene on Wagonseller Road on Wednesday afternoon when the homeowner noticed flames coming from the detached garage. The heat from the flames caused 1,000-gallon, low-pressure propane tank stored next to the garage to fail and explode.
"(The property damage was) pretty extensive," said Terrill. "I would call it a near total loss of the detached garage. The explosion sent half of the (propane) tank through the house, so the house has extensive damage."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
