Last meeting: Morton won 56-35 at Metamora last year.

Outlook: Metamora moved into the state rankings, at No. 7, with its 35-14 win at Dunlap last week, while Morton endured a 55-27 home loss to No. 1-ranked Washington. ... "We cleaned up some mistakes during this week and we've got to improve defensively," Morton head coach Tim Brilley said. "I expect a good football game, but it's a tall order for sure." ... It's a battle between two top quarterbacks, too. Metamora's 6-foot-7, 220-pound Tommy Hall set school single-game passing records for completions (27), attempts (51) and passing yards (430) in that loss to the Potters last season. He is said to be getting NCAA Div. I interest for football and basketball. ... Morton counters with Nolan Donald, who is averaging more than 11 yards per carry from the QB position and leads a quick-strike offense. "They have the speed to get to the perimeter, and they score so fast," Metamora head coach Pat Ryan said. "We have big-play ability too, and a quarterback who can throw it. But I think we'll have to run well in this one. With the explosiveness Morton has, you don't want to get into a high-scoring back-and-forth with them." ... Metamora has outscored opponents 98-21 in its two home games so far, and finishes its regular season with three of four games at Malone. ... Metamora has won six of the last eight meetings with Morton, although Morton has won two of the last three games at Malone Field.
