PEORIA — Carter Lindstrom heard the cheers, but he wasn't sure.

When the Glen Ellyn Glenbard West senior stepped to the final rack of five basketballs Saturday during the Three-Point Showdown King of the Hill, Lindstrom didn't know he trailed the leader by two points.

"I heard the crowd," Lindstrom smiled when asked if the final shooter knew how many he needed to make on the final rack to win the showdown. "But I really didn't know. I was just trying to make them all."

The Class 4A 3-point champion squared up to the final rack and missed the first two. The next three 3s slipped into the net — just enough to edge Class 3A champion Treyvon Calvin of Arlington Heights St. Viator, who made 10 just seconds before.

The two small-school champions — both of whom said they've started baseball practice back home — tied for third with seven makes each.

Class 2A champion Graham Eighner, a senior at Hoopeston Area, made his seven in the first two racks before missing the final five.

Class 1A champ Christian Trexler of Tamms Egyptian, was the only junior in the finals.
