Blog: At least Sommer is with us

Regarding last week's editorial about the juvenile age change ...
State Rep. Keith Sommer contacted me via e-mail and attached the roll call for senate bill 2275, which increases the juvenile age to 17 if crime committed is a felony (17-year-olds are considered juveniles if the crime committed is a misdemeanor). And, he along with majority of area state representatives voted against the change.
However, the bill passed with overwhelming support: 71 yeas and 43 nays.
State Rep. Mike Smith (who serves East Peoria) votes yes.
Just an FYI.
