The Morton Village Board approved an agreement with FGM Architects to design the village’s planned fire station Monday night.

Plans are set for construction to begin April 1, 2009. That means costs for the first month of construction will enter this fiscal year’s budget.

Village board trustee Bill Bimrose’s resignation was approved Monday night at the village board meeting.

Bimrose, who joined the board the same time as Morton Mayor Norm Durflinger, is now the public services director in Washington.

Betsy Yarcho was introduced by the board Monday night as Bimrose’s replacement.

Police Chief Nick Graff was reappointed by Gov. Rod Blagojevich to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

Graff is one of 19 members on the board — eight are statutory members. He is also one of only three police chiefs throughout the state assigned to the board.

He was sworn into the board Monday night by village clerk Joe Nohl.
