Lincoln Museum screens new movie for public

A new movie on the boyhood of President Abraham Lincoln and a discussion on Lincoln’s view on race and slavery will be open to the public next weekend in Springfield.

“The Better Angels,” from acclaimed director Terrence Malick, will be screened two weeks before its public opening at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

The next evening at 7 p.m., historian John Stauffer of Harvard University and author Charles Branham will discuss “Lincoln, Race and Slavery” at the library.

Both evens are free, but tickets must be reserved in advance by calling 217-558-8934 or visiting and clicking on “special event registrations.”
