Alyn L. Schieber, 77, of 206 N. Louisiana Ave., Morton, died at 5:08 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at his home.

Born Oct. 28, 1931, in Morton to Victor and Lourine (Giesel) Schieber, he married Hilda Hohstadt Sept. 15, 1956, in Morton. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Cynthia Schieber (Mathew Morey) of Alexandria, Va.; two grandsons, Benjamin Schieber and Cameron Morey; one step-granddaughter, Kim (Curt) Holderfield; two step-great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Robert (Jeannette) Schieber of Cypress, Texas, Don (Wanda) Schieber of Morton, Loren (Ann) Schieber of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Leon (Ellen) Schieber of Morton.

He was an Army veteran, serving from 1952 to 1954.

He worked 48 years for Tazewell Publishing Co./Fleming Publishing, retiring in 1997 as vice president of sales and commercial printing.

He was a member of Morton United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at his church. The Rev. Paul Walles will officiate. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
