MORTON — Eldora L. Brown, 95, formerly of Morton, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, in Fredericksburg, Va., where she lived with her son, Thomas.

She was born Eldora Price on Jan. 26, 1914, in Eureka, the daughter of Mable Johnson Price. She married Garland F. Brown, Sr. of Roanoke in 1933, and remained his devoted wife for 70 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Betty Yvonne.

She is survived by three sons, Gerald, Garland, Jr. and Thomas; one daughter, Mae Bowald; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A member of Morton Christian Church, Eldora was also a member of the Morton Women’s Club, Morton Christian Women’s Club, Peoria Area Stitchery Club and the Scottish Rite Club of Washington.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton with Rev. Gary Salm officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roanoke Township Cemetery.
