MORTON — M. Jeannette Owens, 75, of Morton, died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009, at her home.    

She was born January 1, 1934 in White Hall, Ill.,  to Meade and Eileen Dunn Shirack. She married Ronald Owens on November 22, 1956 in Alton, Ill.

Surviving are her husband, Ron of Morton; one daughter, Kelly (and Phil) Zobrist of Morton; four sons, Phill (and Angie) Owens of Springfield, Ill; Maj. Patrick (and Cyndi) Owens of Decatur, Ill; Paul (and Gayle) Owens of Mitchell, Ind; Shannon (and Rocio) Owens of Sacramento, Calif; one sister, Joan England of Fulton, MO; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded by her parents, two brothers and one grandson.

She was a 1952 graduate of Alton High School in Alton, Ill.

She owned and operated McBurger Restaurant in Morton for  10 years and The Sideboard in downtown Morton.

She was also a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother.

Jeannette was a avid golfer who enjoyed playing in the Tuesday Morning and Wednesday Evening Golf Leagues at Pine Lakes Country Club. She was proud of the hole in one she made in 2007.

She also was a avid bridge player who played in various bridge clubs for over 30 years.

She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Cremation has been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 at her church with Father Mark DeSutter officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton, where a Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
