Johann Lindner, 82, of Bartonville, died at 5:55 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

Born June 3, 1931, in Munich, Germany, to Johann and Martha (Heichlinger) Lindner, he married Gloria Hammond on Aug. 9, 1954, in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Karl (Donna) Lindner of O’Fallon, Konrad (Lorraine) Lindner, Mark (Mary) Lindner and Tim (Valerie) Lindner, all of Morton; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He emigrated from Germany in 1952, arriving on the Queen Mary in New York and settled in central Illinois, becoming a United States citizen on June 8, 1954.

He served in and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a medic.

He received a business degree from Brown’s Business School in Peoria and was employed at CILCO first as an accountant, then later in the advertising/promotions department. He continued at Caterpillar Inc. in the engineering department and retired after a long and successful career.

Cremation was accorded. A memorial service was Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with visitation prior. The Revs. Dennis O’Brien and Eimo Hinrichs officiated.
