Wilma J. Bollegar, 84, of Morton, passed away at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

She was born April 6, 1929, in Morton to Clarence and Lydia (Staker) Zimmerman. She married Clyde Bollegar on June 6, 1956, in Morton. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Krista K. (Dr. Erik) Opperman of Morton and Nancy A. Bollegar of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Dr. David (Rebecca) Opperman and Jonathan Opperman, both of Morton, and Kathryn (Uriah) Kilgallin of Washington; one brother, Kenneth L. (Donna) Zimmerman of Morton; and her sister-in-law, Marjorie Zimmerman of Princeton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Raymond and Billy.

She was a 1947 graduate of Morton High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Bradley University in 1952.

Wilma taught on and off from 1950 until her retirement in 1994 from Morton School District 709.

She was a member of the Morton Apostolic Christian Church.

Wilma enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading and keeping in touch with her former students.

The family would like to thank the staff at Restmor for their compassionate care during Wilma’s short stay.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at the Morton Apostolic Christian Church, with church ministers officiating. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial was at the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
