Obituary: Dorothy Clayton, 84, of Normal

Dorothy M. Clayton, 84, of Normal, formerly of Morton, died at 9:50 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at Heartland Health Care in Normal.

She was born April 28, 1930, in Armington to Bert and Wannie (Burleson) Stroud and married Ralph L. Clayton on Sept. 15, 1951, in Peoria. He died on April 24, 1998. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Eugene and William Stroud.

Surviving are two nieces, Sharon (Don) Roach of Coal City and Andrea Farrell of Des Moines, Iowa.

She attended Brown’s Business School in Peoria.

Dorothy worked for 46 years at Wahlfeld’s in Peoria, retiring in 1994.

She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in McLean. She also was a member of the Home Extension for several years and a 50-year member of the Kennel Lake Sportsman’s Club in Morton.

A graveside service was held March 27 at Oakview Cemetery in Armington, officiated by the Rev. Rob Roy.

Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
