District thankful for fund support

On behalf of the many children, teachers and other stakeholders who will benefit from your generosity, I'd like to thank those of you who were able to stop by Eli's Coffee on Friday, May 10.

Your purchase supported the District 709 Education Fund, which is part of the Morton Community Foundation.

This fund is dedicated to supporting the educational endeavors of our staff members, which in turn, enhances and enriches the experiences that our students have in the Morton Schools.

Equally as important is the generosity and community spirit exhibited by Eli's Coffee all week during May 6-10, as a different fund at MCF was supported each day by this local business.

Eli's donated 10 percent of purchases each day to a designated fund, thereby supporting and benefitting so many different worthy causes in our area. Our thanks to Eli's and our community for all of your support!

Superintendent, Morton CUSD No. 709

Congratulations MHS math team

Once again, the Morton High School Math team has, through talent and hard work, brought home honor to themselves, their school and to our town by winning second place in the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics math team state championship.

How proud this town should be of the team and their coaches Lucas Allen and assistant Joel Zehr. Kudos to all of you.

And thank you, Times-News for recognizing the team on the front page!
