The Morton Junior High seventh-grade boys basketball team is going to state.
The Junior Potters advanced to the Illinois Elementary School Association Class 4A state quarterfinals with a 30-25 win last night over Normal Kingsley in the Sectional 5 title game.
MJHS (24-0) will face Shorewood Troy (10-11) at 1 p.m. Saturday in Dwight.
The winner will move on to the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Saturday against either Rantoul Eater (17-2) or Springfield Grant (20-0).
The state championship and third-place games take place Feb. 12, also in Dwight.
Morton won back-to-back seventh-grade state titles in 1989 and 1990.
Most recently, the Junior Potters were third in 2006 and '07 at the seventh-grade level.
