Morton hammers visiting East Peoria

Morton’s depth submerged East Peoria in a July 14 swim meet.

At their home pool, the Otters more than doubled the output of the Sonic Waves in a 939-456 decision.

Morton won 65 of the 80 events contested between the Tazewell County programs.

The lone three-time winner for the Otters was Spencer McGowan, a 13-14 boys entrant.

McGowan took top honors in the 100 freestyle in 1:07.94, the 50 backstroke in :36.56 and the 50 butterfly in :34.72.

Nine swimmers were victorious twice.

For the boys, Will Neilson (50 free, 25 free), Rindy Uphoff (100 free, 50 free), Connor Kindred (100 free, 50 breaststroke), Jordan Schertz (50 free, 50 fly) and Rhodes Uphoff (100 individual medley, 50 fly) registered multiple wins.

On the girls’ side, Anna Dryden (100 free, 50 back), Jenna Zbinden (50 free, 50 breast), Ashli Voeller (100 IM, 50 fly) and Alex Monferdini (100 IM, 50 fly) all won two times.

Other girls who triumphed included: Courtney Jones, Magen Monson, Natalie Zobrist, Rachel Schrock, Lucy Weeks, Hannah Arvin, Bridget Elward, Meridith McDonough, Olivia Schrock, Caitlin Lewellyn, Tenley Dowell, Tatiana Kindred, Isabella Jackson, Olivia Kindred, Jessica Rajkumar, Shelby Zbinden, Caylie Jones and Kaelyn Robertson.

Additional boys first-place finishers were: Cooper Kraft, Johnathan Fisher, Ryan Wood, Nathan Smith, Jonathan Lewellyn, Austin Bradford, Michael Lewellyn and Andrew Dryden.

Morton won 18 of the 20 relays against East Peoria.
