Grapplers take down El Paso-Gridley, Prairie Central

The Morton Junior High wrestling team won a pair of duals Feb. 4.

In a 48-39 win against El Paso-Gridley, Junior Potters Cody Hilliard, Reid Butler, Jordan Case, Ryan Brooks, Brandon Bland, Tory Davis, Kyle King and Brock Kelley all won.

Butler and Case recorded pins.

Hilliard, Butler, Clay Cone, Dakota Hefner, Thomas Blood, Jack Walter, Case, Brooks, Bland, Davis and King all were victorious for MJHS in a 61-36 triumph over Prairie Central.

Cone, Hefner, Walter, Case and King all produced pins for the winning squad.

The Junior Potters placed 13th Saturday in the Mahomet-Seymour Invitational with 80.5 points.

Bland (75 pounds) and Butler (105 pounds) both placed third for Morton.

Brooks (70) was fourth, while King (85) and Austin Weyland (155) landed sixth-place distinction.

Bloomington, with 293 points, was the champion in a 16-team field. Coal City was second.
