Carius eighth in IESA Class AA state meet

Morton Junior High eighth grader Brady Carius collected eighth-place honors at the Illinois Elementary School Association Class AA boys cross country state meet. He finished in a school-record time of 10:52.

Morton Junior High School eighth grader Brady Carius finished eighth Oct. 16 in the Illinois Elementary School Association Class AA cross country state meet.

It is the first time an MJHS runner placed in the top ten at state. Carius ran the Maxwell Park course in a time of 10:52, which is a new school record.

From a team standpoint, the Junior Potters completed a successful year that included winning the Metamora Invitational and finishing in the top five in three others.

Carius and Drew Crocker ran some of the best times in the cross country program’s history.

Members of the entire MJHS squad include: boys — Nic Erickson, Cody Hilliard, Josh Phillips, Mason Plotner, Tristan Riegler, Trace Cooper, Brad McGill, Zac Simon, Adam Messer, Brennan Martin, Troy Hohulin and Mitch Grant.

Girls — Kristen Sommer, Ellie Wuttrich, Abby Smith, Chloe Williams, Erika Gordon, Tiffany Pray and Mason Seggebruch.
