Potters nab third place

Morton beat all the other Mid-Illini Conference entrants and placed third overall May 3 in the Morton Relays.

The Potters scored 48 points, 42 of which came in the relay format, in the annual boys track and field meet it hosted that consisted this year of eight teams.

Morton had points in 10 events, led by the 4x100 relay taking first place in a time of 44.9 seconds.

The Potter 800 (200-200-400) sprint medley was the runner-up.

The 400 (100-100-200) sprint medley and 4x400 captured third.

The 4x800, 4x110 high hurdles and 4x200 all were fourth.

Additionally, Morton's 1600 team, shot put and discus were fifth.

Chatham Glenwood was the team champion with 88 points.

From the league, Washington was fifth, East Peoria seventh and Limestone eighth.
