Stamm, C. Gilles pace Morton medal winners at Honor Roll Meet

Several members of Morton’s talent-laden girls track and field team got a final chance to display their skills May 21.

Potter athletes took part in nine events at the Journal Star/CEFCU Honor Roll Meet at EastSide Centre.

“The Honor Roll Meet is really a showcase of the area talent and our girls represented MHS with outstanding performances,” MHS head coach Lynn Rudin said.

Brittany Stamm medaled in four events and Chelsea Gilles three. Both are seniors.

Stamm was second with a time of 15.9 seconds in the 100 hurdles and also was the runner-up with a triple jump of 33-feet-2 1/2-inches.

Additionally, she was part of two second-place relays.

Savina Fischer, Stamm, Taylor Wright and Gilles clocked a :50.1 in the 4x100.

Fischer, Stamm, Ashley Gilles and Chelsea Gilles completed the 4x200 in 1:46.2.

Gilles also placed fifth in the 100 dash in 13.2 seconds and was sixth with a :26.1 in the 200.

Bridget Carius of Morton placed third in the 3200 run in a time of 11:54.7.

Wright, Bethany Bremer, Ashley Gilles and Fischer finished the 4x400 in 4:13, good for fifth-place honors.

Hannah Behle was ninth and Brooke Goodyear 10th for the Potters in the 800 in identical times of 2:29.5.

“The girls had an awesome meet and brought home a lot of medals,” said Rudin. “It was especially nice to see the seniors have a big meet.”

Six of the Morton competitors are from the Class of 2013.
