Morton slaughtered the Midwest Central softball team on March 26.

A nine-run second inning and an eight-run fifth were part of the Potters’ 24-0 rout in the non-conference contest at Manito.

Justine Szetela cruised to a win in her debut as Morton varsity softball head coach.

Potters hurler Alexis Opel tossed a five-inning shutout. She allowed two hits and one walk, while fanning five Raiders in a 78-pitch outing.

Chandler Ryan and Maddie Gass both had three hits. Gass doubled and drove in three runs, while Ryan had a triple with two RBIs and reached base safely six times.

Jocelyn Nimmo of Morton also had a big day at the plate with three singles and four RBIs.

Bridget Serrurier and Amanda Sigulas knocked in two runs apiece from the middle of the order. No. 7 hitter Jadison Wharram was 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Emma Hoefft had two hits with a RBI. Halle Fox, Kayla Smock and Jacey Wharram also plated Potters teammates.
